Ejiro Akpovwovwo is a consultant clinical pharmacist. He has a Doctor of Pharmacy and a Masters of Pharmacy from the University of Benin, and a Fellow of the West African Post Graduate College of Pharmacists. He has over 11 years of clinical practice in the hospital with consultancy services at the community practice setting. His passion for better patient care has led to several short courses including the 1st and 2nd international pharmacotherapy training in Nigeria by Dr. Teresa Pounds and her team, the vascular access and drug information training by Dr. Magdalene Oke and Dr Ashish Alvani. Following these trainings, he picked up interest in nutrition support and currently is one of the nutrition support pharmacists at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital. He is the department’s assistant clinical training coordinator, started the drug information/pharmacovigilance center and is involved in clinical research (with about 3 publications and a yet to be published work on TPN). He is a member of the hospital research and ethics committee, a supply chain specialist and a volunteer trainer for USAIDs malaria Presidential Initiative programme. He is fully committed to ensuring that nutrition support becomes readily available to all patients in the West African sub-region, hence his passion to work with WASPEN Coordinator Dr. Teresa Pounds and all other members in any way possible to achieve this.
